Olive Knolls Church exists to make more and better disciples of Jesus Christ by building an attractive community for our active reach as we REACH, GROW, SERVE, and GO. A key component of making Disciples is to send and deploy people into the world both locally and globally.
The Children’s Pastor is responsible for providing leadership, development, and direction for the Children’s Ministry staff and volunteer teams as it pertains to the vision, mission and strategy of all that reaches families both within OKC and our community.
The Pastor of Children is a full time salaried position. Therefore, a minimum of 40 hours per week is required. This position requires a background check, resume, a license or Ordained Elder in the Church of the Nazarene, or a teacher/chilcare worker with education.
RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)
Oversee all programming and ministry for children ages birth – 5th grade, including Sunday mornings, mid-week programming, Baby Dedication Class, baptism class, summer programming, camps, etc.
Work with the Children’s ministry staff to choose and prepare curriculum for each program
Create a dynamic atmosphere, activities and programming for each age group that will facilitate learning and encourage spiritual growth
Recruit, train, schedule and lead teams of volunteers for each area of children’s ministry
Communicate the needs of children’s ministry to the staff and OKC as a whole
Be a liaison between the church and Olive Knolls Christian School by being present at school functions (to the extent which is reasonable) and communicate with school families the opportunities OKC offers for their family
Oversee Ministry Safe protocols for children ministry programming and administer the Policies and Procedures of Child Safety.
Coordinate childcare needs for church activities and events, when it is appropriate to do so
Ensure facilities, grounds and equipment used for children’s ministry purposes are clean, safe and in good repair
Work with the OKC Buildings and Grounds Director for related needs
Develop and oversee an annual children’s ministry budget
Plan and direct special events and activities.
Partner with the Student Pastor to schedule periodic family activities and work on transitions between age groups.
Provide opportunities for children to use their gifts to serve their peers, church and community
Contribute to ministry wide events and seasonal emphasis projects such as Serve Day, Harvest Festival, Thanksgiving Outreach, Christmas Eve Service, etc.
Work with the church leadership to provide parenting classes to enrich the family unit
Serve as the Chaplain of OKCS elementary age.

If married, a supportive spouse and family
Education or work-related experience overseeing, directing, and/or managing paid or volunteer staff
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated leadership and administrative gifts
The ability to provide information, direction and feedback to all constituents
