Job Title: Assistant Director Status: Salary Exempt
Rate: $36,000 - $38,000 Benefits: Medical, dental and vision Shift: Open/Close Reports: To the Director Authority: Direct Supervisor SUMMARY: Responsible for maintaining the highest standards possible for the education, care and recreation of children, by ensuring staff provide emergent child-directed, developmentally appropriate activities in a Christian-based classroom while initiating and fostering positive guidance and behavior management practices. Perform various personnel management functions, monitoring staff time and attendance, managing crisis situations, handling confidential information and other related duties. The Assistant Director the Substitute On-site Director when the Director is unavailable. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: An employee in this position is expected to exhibit a genuine liking and understanding of children and a desire to share the general foundations of Christian Faith with them. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. It is an essential function of this position to work in the classroom in direct contact and interactions with children.
SPIRITUAL COMMITMENT: · Established and growing relationship with God · Committed to sharing your love of the Lord with the children and families in our program MINIMUM EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE: · AA in Early Education, Child Development or Equivalent · Documentation of attaining at least step 8.5 in the Oregon Registry · 3 year of qualified teaching experience in a Certified Child Care Center · 3 years of experience leading, training and coaching a team LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS: · Criminal background check required for hire · Pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications · Food Handlers certification · Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect · Oregon Registry
TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
· Strong coaching and management skills · Strong customer service and public relations skills · Able to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing · Able to write routine reports and correspondence · Critical thinking and problem solving skills · Time management, organizational and prioritization skills. · Knowledge of Rules for Certified Child Care Centers · Strong working knowledge of Developmentally Appropriate principles and practices · Strong working knowledge of the use of Learning Stories as an assessment tool · Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspect of the job · Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions · Ability to manage multiple priorities · Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations · Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds · Ability to remain calm under pressure · Ability to interact with others from an emotionally intelligent perspective · Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Requires prolonged and/or repetitive sitting, standing, stooping, bending, reaching and kneeling. · Must work indoors and outdoors year-round · Must work in noisy and crowded environments · Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds · May be exposed to contagious illness · May be exposed to blood borne pathogens
