Key Responsibilities: Creates, develops, organizes, and evaluates content for BFC communications, church-wide promotions, and campaigns. Creates and manages storytelling content across formats and platforms. Establishes distinct voices for BFC’s digital channels (social media, YouTube), and creates content for each, representative of the BFC brand.
Increases social media presence and drives following growth and increased engagement.
Works with creative team to plan, film, edit, and evaluate photo and video content for BFC communications, church-wide promotions, and campaigns.
Specific Areas of Responsibility: 1. Contributes to strong and flourishing communications based in the BFC values and practices. 2. Creates and manages storytelling content across formats and platforms. Writes, commissions, curates, produces, and edits stories across media formats to tell the story of BFC. Works with Creative Director to execute an annual storytelling plan.
3. Creates, develops, organizes, and evaluates content for church-wide communications and campaigns. Writes and executes multi-method communications plans in coordination with BFC strategy and ministry plans; manages all needed content. Edits and proofreads content for accuracy and to ensure content is on-target. Evaluates effectiveness of each campaign for future benefit.
4. Creates social media content, increases social media presence, and drives following growth and increased engagement. Creates, edits, publishes, and shares compelling social media content that represents the mission and values of BFC, builds meaningful online connections, and encourages attenders and followers to engage with us. Works with Creative Director to develop and execute a social media strategy with storytelling as a primary focus. Continuously improves our social media reach and increases followers by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights, and best practices, and implementing new strategies based on this information.
5. Plans, films, edits, and evaluates photo and video content for BFC. Participates in the collaborative process of the communications/creative teams to develop a story or goal for a film project. Serves as the director of photography for each project, including developing the film’s visual style, determining and setting up on-set lighting, capturing appropriate video, and supervising additional camera crew. Edits raw footage into sequences, adds graphics and effects to complete a final video. Evaluates effectiveness of each video for future benefit. Qualifications and Position Requirements: Exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and a healthy personal and family life.
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a related field; has strong communications skills. Committed to continual learning and growth. Excellent writer and communicator. Good technical camera operating skills; proficient in Adobe Premiere or equivalent. Personal interest in social media, sees it as a valuable tool for storytelling and overall church growth. Has the ability to see the perspective of all people; communicates to every age and stage of life. Excellent project management skills that shape day-to-day tactics that align with bigger goals. Self-starter, decision-maker, and capable of directing others and implementing projects with little to no supervision.
Demonstrates creative and analytical thinking; handles technical tasks while also having an eye for design.
Is in agreement with Church of the Nazarene Statement of Faith.
