Worship Team Leader/Pastor (Part-Time)

Background
Golden Gate Community is a 21-year-old Nazarene church, with a congregation of 75 people and a contemporary / contemplative worship tradition. We are a community learning from Jesus to seek justice, love and serve others and walk humbly with God.. As we follow Jesus,we believe our time of worship is critical to our walking humbly with God. This position will focus on developing worship on Sunday afternoons at 4:00 pm in San Francisco’s Inner Richmond district - at St. John’s Presbyterian Church at Lake and Arguello streets.

Purpose

To develop and lead a vibrant worship music ministry for our church, in consultation with the pastoral team, in a way that is consistent with our mission, values, and theology.

Job Qualifications
Candidate is called to ministry, and has a heart for God and His church. Candidate has both skill and experience in vocal and music performance (keyboard or guitar), as well as leading worship instrumentalists, vocalists, and congregations. He/she is experienced in contemporary styles of worship, and able to identify, develop, and mentor new worship leaders from within the body. The candidate is organized, positive, and engaged, and has both spiritual maturity and a commitment to a Christian lifestyle as defined by GGCC Sponsorship handbook. The candidate would eventually take the Sponsorship class and would join the church unless they were already a part of another community. Preferred: B.A. in Music or Music Emphasis / M.Div. or equivalent.

Job Duties

Recruits, equips, motivates, supervises and shepherds volunteer musicians

Assembles and schedules musicians for Sunday services

Assembles and schedules musicians and vocalists for once monthly group practices with all team members

Work with the Senior Pastor to select and distribute sets of songs to appropriate parties

Keeps abreast of new music, and regularly introduces appropriate songs at rehearsals

Performs with worship team every Sunday and schedules coverage when out of town

Participates in the creative planning of Sundays and special services with the pastoral team

Maintains a strong prayer base for the music ministry

Communicate faithfully with the Pastoral team, participating in regular supervision with the Senior Pastor including attending weekly staff meetings

Participates in the life and ministry of the church

Approximately 10 hrs/wk
