The NBNAZ Youth Pastor position is currently a 24-28 hour/week part-time position. The main responsibility of the position is to minister to our great group of teenagers, by encouraging them to enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ and equipping them with the tools necessary to be life-long growing disciples.
Qualifications and Position Requirements:
Exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and a healthy family life.
Has two years of experience in youth ministry and has a personal spiritual life congruent with biblical mandates for a leader.
Has a ministry-related degree and either possesses or is working toward ministerial accreditation.
Senses a call to ministry, loves people, and has a passion for outreach, both personally and at the ministry level.
Loves to learn, and takes time to grow in their faith and in their ministerial identity.
Is an engaging teacher, with a strong biblical and theological background that is in agreement with doctrines of the Church of the Nazarene.
Is a gifted leader, capable of casting/imparting vision for ministry, possessing relational skills across all ages.
Models a heartbeat for reaching the community and beyond with the gospel.
Is inclusive, caring and accepting of all youth no matter what their age, gender, race, faith history and socio-economic status. All ministry activities should be planned with this in mind.
Youth Ministry Responsibilities:
Aim to lead teens to Christ and help them grow in their faith.
Plan and lead a weekly Wednesday Night youth gathering, incorporating biblical teaching, prayer, worship, discussion and games, all planned to engage the teens of the Church and our community.
Supply and/or lead Youth Discipleship time(s).
Shape the discipleship plan for the Youth Ministry
Recruit and shepherd volunteer youth workers.
Plan and schedule events throughout the year to build community through fellowship, service outreach and/or discipleship.
Maintain contact with students and parents, keeping them informed of ongoing activities and plans, through calendar, email, Facebook page, parent meetings, etc… (your normal means)
Manage student fees for events and trips and turn in all ministry-related expense receipts to the treasurer in a timely fashion.
Seek to integrate teens into the larger scope and ministry of the Church.
Encourage the youth to attend annual Nazarene District Youth events (Camps, Retreats, Regional gatherings at SNU)
Coordinate a Youth Ministry leadership team
Ministry Staff Expectations:
Committed to working alongside of other ministry team members to implement our church's mission
Be accountable to and submit monthly reports to the Lead Pastor outlining the previous month’s ministry, future plans and long-term goals.
Attend and participate in the leadership for Sunday Worship Services
Attend and participate in staff meetings
Help in the coordination of intergenerational fellowship, service and discipleship events for the church
Arrive at least 30 minutes early prior to the beginning of any scheduled event/ministry night to ensure all things are ready and set-up.
Assist in other duties in consultation with the Lead Pastor
