Location: Selinsgrove, PA
A strong focus is to provide effective small and large group biblical learning opportunities for Jr. and Sr. High Ministries; Will also partner with Children Ministry leaders for effective transitions of preteen students. Associate Pastor of Youth and Young Adults will make efforts to partner with parents and guardians to best equip them for caring for their next generation students. Develop a strategic ministry partnership with the campus of Susquehanna University.
(Side Note) Ministry description may be tweaked and/or adjusted based on candidates skills and abilities.
1. Maintain a strong, growing relationship with Jesus through regular prayer and Bible study.
2. Strive at all times to live a life representative of the life Jesus modeled.
3. Be familiar with the SCN purpose, vision, and goals.
4. Participate as a member of a SCN Ministry Team to support the planning and ongoing implementation of the SCN biblical purpose and vision.
5. Regularly attend weekly staff mtgs, prayer time, and staff moments with the Pastor and other mtgs as needed.
6. Hold regular office hours
Specific Responsibility Guidelines:
a. Oversee the efficient operations of our Student Ministries
b. Model Christlike love and service
c. Chair monthly NYI TEAM meetings
d. Prayerfully recruit, train, and develop adult leaders to invest in lives of youth
e. Develop weekly youth ministry gathering with an emphasis on healthy discipleship methods.
f. Connect with parents to point them toward enrichment opportunities regarding parenting teens
g. Relationally invest in students by spending structured and unstructured time with them (including but not limited to: church activities, sporting events, school events, community events, concerts, etc...)
h. Create intentional conversations. Prayer gatherings, and fellowship events for parents.
i. Coordinate annual youth retreat
j. Coordinate 4-6 Outreach activities a year
k. Track youth attendance
l. Promote and encourage teens to attend Summer Teen Camp.
m. Encourage and help students participate in Philadelphia District Events (Ie: FOL, B2SR, Camp, NYC, etc...)
n. Partner with our children’s ministry to create smooth transitions for preteen students into Youth programming.
o. Pursue expanding youth ministry to connect with college/ young adults through contact work, offering opportunities for social events, retreats, and/or mission trips.
p. Develop fundraisers as needed to be sure students have financial support necessary to participate in youth events.
q. Submit annual budget to Finance Administration Team
2. Develop and maintain discipleship ministry with young adults
a. Oversee discipleship with Young Adults actively participating in church programming.
b. Make strategic connections with SU students and staff
c. Facilitate internship program
3. Assist the Lead Pastor
a. At all times project a favorable image of Selinsgrove Church of the Nazarene to promote its mission and core values.
b. Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other church staff to foster and promote a cooperative environment conducive to maximize the effectiveness of the overall ministry of the church.
c. Assist the pastor with projects or situations that require pastoral guidance and leadership, to enable pastor to have the most time to be the best at his job.
d. Provide pastoral care to members of the youth and young adult ministry team and communicate these specific situations to the lead pastor.
e. Willing to participate in at least one non-profit community ministry organization outside of the local church on a regular basis.
f. Consult with and assist the pastor on issues, policies, and situations he feels necessary.
g. Be available and prepared to fill in for the Senior Pastor when he is unavailable. This includes, but is not limited to pulpit supply, wedding and funeral services, meetings, and other areas that the pastor feels are necessary. This position is expected to be prepared to preach and teach in any capacity, whenever called upon.
h. Assist the Senior Pastor in other areas, as needed.
a. Passionate follower of Jesus Christ, having experienced new birth in Christ and the event of personal entire sanctification.
b. Agrees with and supports the doctrine and policies of the Church of the Nazarene
c. Committed to Selinsgrove’s vision, mission, core values and strategic initiatives
d. College education preferred
e. Team Player, exemplifying a Christ-like attitude of servanthood and teamwork
g. Possesses gifts commensurate with position
h. Excellent communication skills
j.. Able to work with a wide range of constituents—pastoral staff, volunteer workers, outside contractors, etc.
k. Lifelong Learner
l. If married, spouse is encouraging and positive about ministry commitment
