The GoodNaz Youth Pastor shall serve as a Program Pastor at Goodnaz, and shall fulfill the responsibilities of the minister in the spirit of I Timothy 3:2-7. This pastor is also expected to live in harmony with the general and special rules of the Church of the Nazarene as stated in the Manual: Church of the Nazarene. Employment shall be for a term of not more than one year, and shall be renewable upon recommendation of the Lead Pastor at the beginning of each fiscal year (Manual, paragraph 161.2)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR YOUTH MINISTRIES
Lead, supervise, train, and coordinate all ministries to students 6th through 12th grade age, and to their families as appropriate. Provide effective promotion and advertising of the ministry to the church body at large and coordinate all programs and events.
Develop and submit an annual budget request for the Youth Department and to oversee expenditures in order to maintain budgetary integrity.
Recruit, and train, provide leadership and accountability, and properly place all adult youth staff members, in the respective ministry areas.
Recruit, supervise, and train Connect Group teachers/Leaders for each of the classes and develop others as needed.
Ensure that all Youth workers understand the purpose and strategy of the Youth Department and how that helps fulfill the overall mission and vision of the church.
Choose and order appropriate curriculum and materials for classes. Recruit and train regular and new workers for all areas of Student Ministries. Motivate, encourage, and supply current workers with necessary materials for their effectiveness.
Provide every student with the opportunity to take steps to accept Christ as his/her personal Savior. Encourage each Student to explore their giftedness, grow in their faith, be involved in ministry through a growth process, and to become a fully devoted follower of Christ.
Educate and prepare Students for baptism and church membership.
Educate and prepare Students for their mission with God.
Develop an annual ministry plan with specific measurable goals and strategies to achieve them.
Develop job descriptions for each volunteer position in your area of ministry.
Develop and keep a correct and up-to-date organizational flow-chart for your ministry area.
Plan, promote, and implement a comprehensive schedule of summer activities, in order to provide fellowship opportunities for teens within the church, and to encourage the participation of new families in entry-level events.
Plan an annual Youth Evangelistic Outreach, in harmony with the church‚s calendar, and to provide retreat opportunities as needed.
Plan, staff, and lead special activities and events for teens, for the purpose of providing entry-level outreach activities to newcomers, and to provide all teens with recreational and fun events for fellowship.
Plan, organize, and lead special Mission/Service Trips involving youth and sponsors. To research the project, provide fundraising opportunities, and coordinate all details of the trip.
EXPECTED PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
All Pastors of Goodnaz are expected to adhere to basic professional standards in light of their position and responsibilities. At a minimum the following are expected of all staff pastors:
This position is expected to work a minimum of 25-30 hours per week (with the possibility of full time). This does not include hours that are considered your personal ministry to the church (i.e. Life Groups, attending worship, teaching).
Dress code ‚ Casual is acceptable but everything should look neat and appropriate for a good representation of GoodNaz. Please refer to the Employee Handbook for a more detailed explanation.
As a professional representing Goodnaz, all correspondence (including emails) and calls, needing a response, are to be answered within 24 hours.
In the era of digital footprints, please follow the guidelines regarding social media as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Goodnaz will enforce a zero tolerance on gossip. This includes listening, receiving and simply getting involved in issues where you are not a part of the problem or solution. Publicly we defend each fellow staff member and any issues or disagreements are to be addressed privately. In addition Biblical standards should be followed. In today‚s society there could be legal ramifications for the church and you personally for gossip.
When addressing conflict with another person, make certain that all communication takes place person to person (face to face), via phone at a minimum. Texting and email can be misconstrued and damaging.

An extremely important aspect of this position is the spiritual character and integrity of the individual who fills it. The GoodNaz Youth should also demonstrate administrative skills, be a team leader, possess spiritual sensitivity, and exhibit these qualities in everyday life. This pastor must have a love for students and their parents. The GoodNaz Youth should acknowledge the responsibility to act in the best interest of Goodnaz at all times, and is expected to conduct his/her private and public life in a manner which will not embarrass the church. Additionally, all pastors, ministers, and directors are to have an experience of salvation, baptism, and sanctification. They are to share their faith, promote the spiritual good of the church, serve the community, and express the love of God to those they have contact with.
