As the Youth Pastor you will be expected to contribute to the mission of Prescott Church of the Nazarene, "Helping people respond to God's invitation to relationship and mission" by . . .
1. Being an assistant to the Pastor-
You are to an extension of his leadership. To facilitate this, you will need to attend regular weekly staff meetings, and have private time as needed with the senior pastor.
2. Being on special assignment to Youth-
Developing a vision of ministry to youth compatible with the overall vision of Prescott Nazarene, casting that vision, developing a plan of action to make it a reality, and implementing that plan. Youth are defined as 7th grad through college, ages 13 to 24 years.
Coordination (oversight and delegation) of all Youth Ministry of Prescott Nazarene-Wednesday evening program, Sunday School, retreats, work-n-witness trips, music, retreats, fellowship activities, athletics etc..
Multiplying ministry through equipping of workers. This includes recruiting, and training of volunteer youth staff as well as any interns hired for temporary service and training. Ministry is to be multiplied through the equipping of others to do ministry.
Building bridges between youth and parents. Scheduling at least four opportunities during the year to personally communicate with parents of teens. Communication with parents through as many means as possible is encouraged.
Contacting and interacting with Youth on a one on one or small group basis.
Controlling the budget for Youth Ministry, keeping expense on target with the annual budget. This would include the raising of funds need over and above the allocated budget for Youth Ministry
3. General Service to the church-
Submitting a written report of your activities and progress as they relate to this ministry description to each monthly Board Meeting.
Attending all staff meetings and conferences assigned by the Pastor.
Being on call for special assignments for the Pastor as need arises in counseling and/or visitation. One day a week you will be expected to visit any members of our church who are hospitalized and be available for crisis calls.
Maintaining a disciplined work schedule each week. A regular work schedule is required and needs to be communicated to the church, staff, and office. Likewise time off is also required It will require that you pick a day off and take that time away from church activities.
Planning events as far in advance as possible and in communication with all other staff members paid and volunteer.
Maintaining a disciplined devotional and growing spiritual life, without which your ministry will be ineffective.
Tithing. Giving is the foundation to a growing spiritual life. Failure to tithe would be grounds for release.
Evangelizing and integrating of new people into the areas of ministry.
Participating in worship service under Pastoral guidance including preaching when requested.
4. Ordination- (If Not Ordained)
You must continue to work toward graduation from the course of study.
You must continue to maintain a district license until ordination.
