The Valley Church has continually focused on helping people find their way back to God who had
previously “tried” church, and found it irrelevant. We are a multiplying, multi-campus congregation
pursuing our purpose through a committed focus on making disciples who make disciples and
campuses that launch new campuses. We are sending healthy, called, and equipped people into a
world that desperately needs Jesus.
Our youth pastor will be a leader who is gifted in teaching and has a passion to influence teenagers.
They will develop a strong understanding of our unique DNA and will work to seamlessly align the
goals of our teen ministry into the overall goals of the church.
The successful candidate will be able to express and share their thoughts of what a vibrant and
healthy youth ministry looks like, work well with strong pastoral leadership, and be accountable. They
will be passionate about their call to ministry and demonstrate a willingness to engage in the lives of
students and their families.
What you bring:
ï· Bible College or Seminary degree in ministry / biblical studies and preferably an emphasis on
ï· The ideal candidate will portray a genuine love and passion for students and have at least
three - five years’ experience of cultivating a growing and successful youth ministry in a church
ï· The successful candidate will have a history of experience as a dynamic communicator, with a
significant background in recruiting, managing teams, and building leaders. Also, they will
embrace working in a grace-oriented setting committed to reaching the unchurched,
developing connectional relationships with community organizations where our teens can
serve and learn to engage our broader community for the gospel.
ï· Lead One-on-One 8 week relational studies (called the Journey) with teens and train other
leaders to do the same.
ï· Lead a team to carry out effective Sunday morning and mid-week teen services and
ï· Oversee and help plan, organize and perform baptism celebrations each quarter.
ï· Plan, organize, recruit and implement for large group events (50, 100, 150 student events.)
ï· Planning & implementing processes for teens spiritual growth (Identity and character) into
mature followers of Christ - What will it look like & how do we get there, what tools will we use.
ï· Provide counseling to parents and teens individually and together.
ï· Helping adult teen staff and student leaders discover their personality & gifting and utilize them
in various forms of service to the Kingdom.
ï· Help and encourage parents to be leaders in their homes, the community, and the Church
ï· Mentoring future leaders called to ministry whether teens or adults.
ï· Lead the development of an on-going and invitational Life Group community within youth
ï· Capable to supplement the preaching team and deliver messages in the main services 3-5
times in a year as required.
Personal Characteristics / Skill Sets:
ï· Have a solid understanding of “Deep & Wide” youth ministry that balances between
attractional youth environments and a discipleship process for those who are far from God,
ï· Leads a life of following Christ and have life/work balance in marriage, parenting, and
ï· Be a dynamic and effective communicator that reaches an audience of all ages.
ï· Be an effective recruiter of leaders and volunteers for youth ministry.
ï· Have the ability to drive toward our church-wide vision that translates throughout all youth
ministries of the church.
ï· Possess the capability of turning strategy into creative execution, to create and develop
systems to build a successful youth ministry based on changing lives.
ï· Being familiar with the Orange philosophy of youth and family ministry would be a plus.
ï· Relational, with a friendly and approachable disposition.
ï· Possess a teachable and coachable spirit.
ï· Comfortable receiving feedback from within a collaborative team.
ï· Strong emotional intelligence and awareness of strength and weaknesses.
ï· A passion for developing, equipping, and propelling both individual leaders and teams.
ï· Commitment to the vision, mission, core values, and beliefs of The Valley Church
ï· If married, the spouse will have a vested interest in the vision of the church.
