SUMMARY:

The Executive Director of Pro Deo Youth Center under the guidance of a volunteer Board of Directors providesstrategic leadership and manages the direction, planning, and execution of organization programs, fundraising,and development activities. The position functions with a high level of autonomy in carrying out many aspects of the role.

Pro Deo Youth Center is a grassroots organization that has been in existence for eight years and has a strong record of helping teens in the community. Our mission is “Building relationships to empower teens in a safe and inclusive environment.” Pro Deo provides a safe environment for teens to be accepted for who they are, to receive guidance, to develop skills, to socialize, and to gain hope through access to caring adults, programs and services. We meet teens where they are in life, advocate for them and help them with their life challenges....one by one through after school and Friday night programming. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Represent Pro Deo in the community, demonstrating support and enthusiasm of the organization's mission
through speaking, networking and community involvement
Cultivate new and nurture existing relationships with donors, partners and volunteers
Lead staff and help develop and guide them in their growth. This includes, but is not limited to weekly staff
meetings and in-service training.
Develop, gain approval for, and closely manage the annual budget for the organization
Develop and manage various fundraising activities to ensure strategic plans and critical fund raising processes are carried out in a timely manner. Monitor and evaluate all fundraising and stewardship activities to ensure that the fundraising goals are being achieved.
Lead and develop the grant application process and manage grant obligations
Develop a marketing and communication plan to promote the organization to its donors and maximize public awareness of the fundraising and programming activities of the organization
Manage the preparation of regular progress reports and annual reports
Closely manage the organizations revenues and expenses and ensure bills are paid
Provide visionary leadership for the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, donors, community partners, and
teens
Coordinate and execute Pro Deo’s Development Plan, Annual Work Plan, and Strategic Plan
Develop new and update existing policies and procedures for all aspects of the organization
Advocate for, interact and work with teens to enhance their growth and development
Some weekends and evenings may be required
*The Board of Directors retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, management, finance or similar field required
Minimum of three years management experience required
Excellent writing skills required
Demonstrated leadership ability required
Experience with fundraising required
Experience working with teens required
Grant writing experience highly desired
*Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to create an ethical, non-discriminatory and safe work environment
Ability to guide, train, direct and motivate others
Ability to organize and supervise the activities of others
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of budgeting and financial management
Working knowledge of employment law, human resource, information technology and data management
practices and principles
Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences, both orally and in writing
Ability to perform research, analyze issues, manage projects and present recommendations to enhance
services and operations
Familiarity with using a computer and software including word processing, spreadsheets and presentation
applications
Ability to interact effectively and maintain good working relationships with elected officials, faith leaders,
media and the public
Available to attend various community functions and citizen group meetings
Ability to work with boards and general knowledge of Robert’s Rules of Order
Ability to maintain confidential information
Mandatory reporting when necessary

PSYCHOLOGICAL DEMANDS:
The essential functions of this position require the following while handling psychological stress:
Ability to remain objective and calm while speaking with emotional, angry, or distraught individuals
Ability to handle difficult situations and address personal emotions after the situation has been concluded
