JOB DESCRIPTION

Medford First Church of the Nazarene

OVERVIEW

               Medford First Church of the Nazarene is a growing church of around 1200-1300 in attendance and is seeking a young adult for a 10 week internship starting summer 2018.  The Intern would work primarily in the area of Middle School Ministry, but would have the opportunity to experience ministry in a multi-staff, team environment.  Medford First is a thriving church with a heart for its students – we believe both parties will gain much from this partnership.

PERSONAL EXPECTATIONS

  • The Intern to Middle School Students would be expected to love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength.
  • They would be expected to have a personal relationship with Jesus that guides and leads their every decision.
  • The Intern to Middle School Students would be expected to be taking ongoing steps to foster their ongoing relationship with Christ through scripture reading, prayer, growth groups, and service.
  • The Intern to Middle School Students is expected to follow all that is spelled out in the Covenant of Christian Conduct.

STAFF FUNCTION REQUIREMENTS

  • The Middle School Pastor will provide daily supervision and ongoing training.
  • The Intern to Middle School Students will function as part of the Grow team staff ministry.
  • The Intern to Middle School Students would be expected to attend all weekly staff meetings and all Middle School events.
  • The Intern to Middle School Students would be expected to work as a part of the team, considering the overall vision and needs of the various ministries of Medford First.
  • The Intern would be expected to work 40 hours per week, and maintain office hours when not involved with trips or other “out of office” events.

MIDDLE SCHOOL  MINISTRY INTERN EXPECTATIONS

  • Attend First Step, Next Step and explore personal scores from the Strengths Finders, Meyers Briggs, and Leading from Your Strengths.
  • The Intern to Middle School Students would be responsible for overseeing, planning, and executing one or two MAJOR events, as assigned by the Middle School Pastor, during their time at Medford First.  This would include planning, budgeting, and executing primarily in the areas of Middle School Worship.
  • The Intern to Middle School Students would be expected to attend all of Middle School summer activities, and be part of the various missional outreaches during the summer.
  • The Intern to Middle School Students would be expected to take a vital role in special events associated with the ongoing ministry to teens.
  • The Intern to Middle School Students would be expected to understand the overall vision and direction of the Middle School Ministry.
  • The Intern to Middle School Students would be expected to be a vital part of regular Youth Ministry programming, such as Weekend Services.
  • The Intern to Middle School Students would be expected to spend part of their week shadowing the Middle School Pastor (this would include making hospital calls, visiting schools, helping with recruiting, planning, and other activities).  However, many times, the intern would be allowed and encouraged to spend days with other staff members, learning the focus and scope of the various ministries of the church.
  • The Intern to Middle School Students would be asked to speak at and plan various events and trips.
  • The Intern to Middle School Students may have other responsibilities as well.

PAYMENT AND HOUSING

  • The Intern will be provided with housing during their stay.  They will be staying with families from our church body.
  • The Intern will also be provided a weekly salary of $100 a week for 10 weeks.
