Minister to Children and Families
Life Church of the Nazarene is searching for the right person to lead this wonderful church into deep, effective ministry to our neighborhood children and their families. Our mission is to Love Jesus, Grow together and Serve others. We desire, with God’s help, to be the church of choice in our community among families with children. He has blessed us with an enlarged heart for kids, and now we need to find the right leader who can take us further into love and service to the great families of Watertown.
We are a church averaging 220 in morning worship with a current children’s church attendance of 15-25. Our congregation is spiritually healthy and has recently had to say ‘goodbye’ to a longtime staffer who stepped into a lead pastor role. Our lead pastor has been with us for one year, and he is very much a team player who was himself a full-time youth minister for twelve years.
The Watertown community is unique for several reasons. It is a summer resort area with lots of tourists, and it is also home to Ft. Drum, one of the nation’s largest military bases. These military families are in our area for a relatively short time; two to four years, and Life Church has been there to help these families become stronger Christians by training them for ministry and sending them on their way to their next assignment. There are many young, non-military families here, too. We need a leader who knows how to organize and motivate a team of great people, many of which are already in place, to help us serve the needs of children and their parents.
This is a full-time position, and responsibilities include;
Professional qualifications and experience; B.A. in Pastoral Ministry, Children’s Ministry, Child Development or Christian Education preferred. District Licensed in the Church of the Nazarene or Ordained Elder/Deacon. Prior experience in children’s ministry and community service. Excellent communication and organizational skills are a must.
