Church of the Nazarene Job Board - Positions by Category: ChildrenPosted by: Pastor Jeff Hands

Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Oakcliff Naz is a "neighborhood" church. We believe we are located where we are by devine purpose. Our community is the frontline of our ministry, and is in desperate need for the Church to show them who Jesus is and make a tangible difference in their lives. The children are our first connection. We are located in SE OKC, and our neighborhood is very "urban" (we need a better word) in nature. Many of these kids have never been in church, and most are from difficult home situations. The kids and youth of the Oakcliff area are challenging, rewarding at times (victories are awesome), and no matter what, they keep coming back week after week.
We we are looking for a special person that is called to 'inner city" type ministry. This person will have the ability to love on kids like Jesus does: no matter what. He or she will have to be very creative and patient, willing to build trusting connections, and to love even the most difficult child.
Job details include-
Supporting and coordinating Sunday morning Sunday School (10:00-10:45)
Leading Wednesday evening activities (currently VBS style; 6:30 dinner, 7-8 class)
Supporting other children's activities (quizzing, events, camp, etc)
Meeting regularly with pastor to support each other, share ideas and concerns, and to pray
Conecting with the church family for discipleship and fellowship
Time commitment is approximately 20 hours per week to start
Initially this role will be part time, with hopes of growth. We are also seeking a worship minister and would be open to dual roles in full time position.
We have a strong volunteer base that loves these kids, but we need the right person to guide this ministry. This is our biggest and most active ministry and we will support it to the best of our resources.
Please prayerfully consider this position. We know God is paving the way for the right servant leader to join our Oakcliff family.
