Student Ministry Pastor of Connection & Mission
Summary of Job Description:
The Student Ministry Pastor for Connection & Mission will have primary responsibility for shaping and growing our student worship experiences as well as overseeing our mission trips and opportunities. They will be responsible for fulfilling the pastoral duties over middle school and high school students, with an understanding that students are best ministered to when parents and engaged, informed, and supported. The pastor is also expected to live in harmony with the general and special rules of the Church of the Nazarene as stated in the Manual.
Support the vision, strategy, structure, and mission of Southside Church
Strengthen and develop the awareness of the student ministries to the overall church body
Work in collaboration with other student ministry staff and church staff in regards to the Reach, Connect, Grow, Serve strategy including evangelism, worship gatherings, large events, and mission opportunities
Plan, coordinate, and oversee the ministry of our weekly worship gatherings
Create dynamic and experiential worship opportunities for students
Oversee any/all individuals serving in any ministry capacity in the context of worship gatherings; this includes worship band, teaching team, and student leader participation
Work with the Student Ministry Team Lead to plan themes/topics for student worship messages
Oversee the guest care and follow up care of all students who connect with Southside Students
Work with our Reach Pastor to strategically coordinate community connection efforts for the purpose of engaging new students, building a clear bridge into the student ministry/church
Meet weekly with the Student Ministry Team for the purposes of evaluating, dreaming, and planning. Each meeting will include reporting of weekly activities.
Attend weekly church staff meeting.
Develop and carry out a departmental ministry budget in conjunction with the overall student ministry finances
Invite and invest in adult leaders to be a part of the student ministry. Partnered with the Team Lead, develop strategies to encourage and equip adults for fruitful, growing ministry efforts
Coordinate and oversee local, regional, and global mission experiences for both middle school and high school
Coordinate and oversee regularly scheduled “connection” events (Blitz, outings, etc.)
Other duties as agreed and assigned
A fully surrendered follower of Jesus Christ, evidenced by fruits of the Spirit
Holds ordination credentials in the Church of the Nazarene or holds a current district license and/or is working towards ordination.
Has worked in a youth ministry type position for a minimum of two years.
Preferable: an undergraduate degree in relation to student/pastoral ministry or something comparable.
A heart for students and student culture
Event Organization/Planning skills
Strong communication skills
Ability to delegate projects and provide proper guidance and follow-up
An ability to evaluate and provide solutions and recommendations
Worship Coordination & Leadership
Background in musical skills, worship leading, and worship development
5+ years of experience in student ministry (any combination of intern, part-time, or fulltime)
An interest in creative media development and implementation
On the local church level, you will be accountable to the Student Ministry Team Lead, to the Lead Pastor, and to the Church Board which is elected by the congregation.
On the district level, you are also accountable to the District Superintendent.

Someone who can articulate their faith story with clarity and passion.
Someone who’s desire is to see students and their families ministered to and transformed by the grace of God shown through Jesus and are willing to serve those students and families to that end.
Someone passionate about connecting students through worship experiences and mission-mindedness
