About Emmaus Road

In Luke 24, the Bible tells the story of two disciples traveling along the road to the town of Emmaus. As they journeyed, the disciples spoke of recent events in Jerusalem – that a man named Jesus performed many miracles, was crucified and rumored to have risen from the dead.

Along the way, a mystery traveler joined them and explained to them everything the Scriptures had said concerning Jesus. When the three men arrived in the town of Emmaus, they sat down to share a meal together. As they ate, “Christ revealed himself to them through the breaking of bread.” (Luke 24:35) The disciples had been traveling with the resurrected Christ all along!

At Emmaus Road Church, we want this story to be a metaphor for who we are and are becoming as a faith community – travelers on a journey together with the resurrected Christ. We are a sacramentally-minded, gospel-centered community that recognizes the value of observing the Christian calendar, practicing gospel-shaped liturgy, and receiving communion each week. Our mission is to present Christ as Savior, pursue Christ as King, and partner with Christ in service. We are belong to the Church of the Nazarene, a denomination in the Wesleyan tradition.
