The Point Church & Comm. Ctr. is looking for a passionate, teachable, visionary, disciple-maker in the area of Worship Arts.
The person applying should be willing/ able to suppliment their income if needed because we are only able to consider part-time pay at this point.
We are praying for someone with the gifts in playing musical instraments, singing, and leading others in developing their skills in this cabacity (individually and as a team). This includes working with a newly established youth praise band and skilled adult vocalists.
Spiritual maturity and commitement to prayer, personal discipleship, and training others in these means is a must. We want to disciples musicians to use their gifts for God and to know how to do it as a means of worshipping Him, not just performing.
Ability to work with Pro-Presenter, audio & lighting is a plus, but can be learned.
Notes about the church and community:
Greenwood & Church setting:
Greenwood is a fast growing suburb of Indianapolis. The church sits in an area surrounded by houses that have been built in the last +/-10 years and across the street from a brand new elementary school. December 2016 God opened the door for us to begin a food/ clothing closet within the school as a means of compassionate ministry.
The community is primary white middle to upper class with fantastic school systems (Greenwood, Center Grove, and Whiteland). The church sits in a location where all three school districts intersect as well. Music and the arts is huge in Greenwood and Indianapolis, and this is seen all over. So, worship arts is key in many congregations here. The pastor (Jim Spohn) is new to the community and arrived March 1st, 2017.
The church (under the previous pastor) was built and promoted in the community as a place to rent for gatherings to be seen as a place for the community to use. We partner with a funeral home in northern Indy to provide a designated location for their funeral services in the southern part of Indy. We also are the charter oganization for a Cub/Boy Scout troop which we have a few people heavily involved in.
2 Worship Styles:
The church has a 'camp-meeting' style worship service that needs to be developed. It meets at 9am. Most congregations in the community have moved to blended worship with bands in our area and there are few traditional services available. We began what we call the 'camp-meeting' service 3 years ago to begin to meet that need, but the worship leader who lead that service and was the youth pastor felt called to plant a church about 20 minutes away and his last Sunday was the first Sunday of our new pastor. We are maintaining this service with simple keyboard and two female vocalists who harmonize beautifully. This service could really become a draw if developed.
The church also has a 'contemporary' style service that has been incredible over the last 3-5 years. Music was very contemporary with full band (keys, elect. guitar, drums, bass, synthesizer, etc.). In the last few years the young adults who played and led moved away from home and several joined a local band that is touring this summer. The worship leader was the electric guitarist and was highly skilled. He has been gone since November 2016. We have had a couple local worship leaders help us in the transition. However, they are also leading worship on a part time basis at other congregations. We are looking for someone to be committed to this fellowship of beleivers to disciple and minister best to them.
