Part-time youth pastor - 20 hours per week with opportunity for additional hours, responsibility and compensation in other areas of office administration leading to full-time employment.
⢠Winfield, KS First Church of the Nazarene is looking for a youth pastor to serve in our church and community. We are about 45 minutes out of Wichita, KS, 2 1/4 hours out of Oklahoma City, OK and 3 1/4 hours out of Olathe, KS. Winfield is home to Southwestern College that is part of the United Methodist tradition. The cityâs population is a little over 12,000 people.
⢠Our current youth group averages 20+ students for our midweek sessions and we have additional students that attend on Sunday only. So, there is great potential! The sponsors have worked hard this past year to build the group and it has been successful. We are now ready to stretch our kids with strong biblical teaching, life application and discipleship.
The candidateâs requirements:
⢠Model Jesus to our students in daily life!
⢠Be a team player that will work with the sponsors and teen leaders. The candidate will need to utilize the sponsors and teen leaders in all aspects of the youth ministry. This relationship would be one where everyone would learn from each other as we minister to our youth and raise up teen leaders in our community and church.
⢠Plan and implement solid biblical teaching for a setting of 20+ students for our midweek youth meetings. This meeting is intended to reach the teens at their level⦠worship music, relevant teaching and effective student led prayer times would be the focus. We want to encourage student leaders to participate in teaching and sharing as part of their discipleship journey. The candidate would be willing to train up student leaders and sponsors to help in the discipleship ministry to our youth.
⢠Be active in our local schools and in the community supporting our students in extracurricular activities and on campus as the school administration allows.
⢠Coordinate with the SDMI (Sunday School) ministry team in planning for curriculum choices and working with the Senior High and Middle School Sunday School teachers.
⢠Plan and implement the following with parents, sponsors and teen leaders: social events, annual retreat/work and witness trip, meeting with small groups of student leaders, working with a youth ministry team of teens, sponsors, and parents of students.
⢠Participate in our Kansas District NYI events throughout the year⦠including but not limited to: summer camps, lock-in, MNU MAX, NYI convention, etcâ¦
⢠Create and implement an operations budget to present to the church board for annual expenses involved in youth ministry. Fund raising may be needed to supplement regular operations money that comes from the annual church operations budget.
⢠Report to the church board each month with a written report describing the activities of the youth and progress in the ministry.
⢠Be a part of the church staff and expected to attend weekly staff meetings with the other staff members of Winfield Nazarene. We all work together in the ministry of the entire body of Christ.
⢠Live in agreement with the doctrinal stands of the Church of the Nazarene.
