Must be a born again believer with a maturing relationship with Christ.
Must be able to exercise initiative and judgment as an independent worker.
Must possess organizational and administration abilities.
Must be able to respond to changing needs throughout the daily and weekly schedule.
Must demonstrate a genuine love and maintain a good rapport with children and teenagers.
Must be sensitive to needs and pressures of young people and to help them to discover possible solutions.
Must be able to teach, train, and disciple children and youth workers.
Provide oversite of the children and your programs. Help to assure that the children’s ministry and youth ministry programs maintain a balanced program of spiritual, physical, and social growth.
Be acquainted with personal lives of the young people. For example, visit homes, attend school events, and make hospital visits. This also includes being aware of current youth development and culture.
Foster open communication with parents/guardians. As a resource for families, this person will communicate regarding youth ministry programs and events.
Recruit and provide regular training for the adult volunteer workers.
Assist in planning and conducting student events (i.e. retreats, short-term missions’ trips, outings, service projects).
Assist in the development of regular events throughout the year to minister to families with youth.
Implement a philosophy of ministry that maintains a balance of outreach (win the lost), growth (build believers), and equipping (equip workers) with the goal of making disciples. Assure training and regular involvement of youth in church ministry.
