The Youth Pastor at BCCN will focus ministry and energy on teenagers currently in Grades 7-12. As a vital member of the BCCN Ministry Team, the Youth Pastor will also work in sync with the overall objectives of BCCN’s ministry to strengthen the Body of Believers and reach out to those in our community who have yet to walk through our doors.
Although the talents, skills, interests, and ministry style of our next Youth Pastor will influence his or her ministry strategy, the current basic assignments of the BCCN Youth Pastor are:
· Leadership of regular mid-week (currently Wednesday night) experiences/sessions/opportunities.
· Leadership of weekly Sunday morning sessions (aka Sunday School).
· Leadership of beneficial teen activities and events to strengthen, encourage, motivate, and reach out to other teens.
Variation from the above basic assignments will be considered “if” they truly enhance BCCN’s ministry to teens. We are interested in your thoughts for creative and energetic engagement with our teenagers.
A growing, sincere, and stable relationship with Jesus will be absolutely necessary. You will be asked to verify this with your testimony. You will be asked to share evidences of God’s continued work in your life. Although current membership in the Church of the Nazarene is not required, we require that you are in full sympathy and support of the doctrine and teaching of our denomination.
Personal integrity is paramount. The Youth Pastor must stay true to commitments, be truthful, sincere, moral, and “walk the talk” of a follower of Christ. Any candidate who is offered a position must agree to a background check with favorable report as a condition of employment.
This position does not require Ordination or Ministerial credentials, although such would enable expanded ministry activities such as preaching, conducting wedding ceremonies, funerals, etc… First and foremost, we are seeking a person who truly enjoys teens, has an ability to relate with teens, engage teens, and senses God’s leading to minister to teens. Previous experience in leading or significantly participating in teen ministry is desired, but we are not establishing specific criteria. Tell us how you have worked with teens previously, how that went for you, and how you felt about it.
Our ideal Youth Pastor candidate will be fun loving, yet very responsible and very organized. BCCN has a tradition of supporting teen ministry, so the Youth Pastor will not be “alone.” You will have opportunity to partner with other BCCN people interested in teen ministry. However, “servant-leadership” of teen ministry coordinated activity and planning resides with you.
Please understand… this position is, of necessity, “part time.” The beginning salary is $100 per week. Other details of employment benefits can be shared if an interview takes place or if you make specific inquiry via email to the address below. You will need another job or income to primarily support your living expenses. Your primary income source must be of such a nature that you are able to spend appropriate time and energy with our teens. For strong candidates, adjustments in the described expectations for this position may be considered as necessary.
BCCN is hungry for a vital, growing teen ministry. We are trusting God to attract and lead His best choice to us. The pay is admittedly not tremendous, but the reward of impacting teens with the Hope that is Christ is…priceless. If you feel “drawn” by the Holy Spirit, or if your heart has been “quickened” and you want to explore this opportunity further, we encourage you to submit a Cover Letter and Resume. Each application will be shared with the BCCN Youth Pastor Search Team for prayerful consideration.
Please send your Cover Letter and Resume to this address: email@example.com.
