Hours ………………………………………………………………………………25-30 hrs/week

Employee may establish his or her preferred consistent schedule of 25-30 hours/week between the hours of 8am-5pm each weekday.

 

Job Description

The Media and Communications Secretary creates and manages communication to the church and the community to maximize and empower ministry effectiveness as directed by the Administrative and Senior Pastors.

 

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • 1.       Design and create promotional materials for church activities, continually looking for ways to communicate existing church-wide and ministry programs in creative ways that will evoke a response from the congregation and community
  • 2.       Work with pastoral staff and ministry leaders to organize and plan out communication messages in a timely manner
  • 3.       Create and manage various social media communication methods for the church (including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram)
  • 4.       Design and maintain the church website
  • 5.       Design and create the weekly church newsletter and bulletin
  • 6.       Manage the church events email account
  • 7.       Monitor the look and impact of all promotional materials representing RCN
  • 8.       Work alongside the Community Connections Committee to create consistency in messaging from the front door to the back door
  • 9.       Create new and innovative ways for the church to have a presence in the community through various media (alongside the Community Connections Committee)
  • 10.    Network with paid and volunteer artists to develop graphic designs as needed
  • 11.    Answer Phones/Screen Calls
  • 12.    Greet, screen, and route Office front door visitors
  • 13.    Other duties as assigned by Administrative Pastor

  • 1.       A heart for the local church, a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, and a passion to use communications to reach others
  • 2.       Friendly, inviting personality
  • 3.       Strong, clear communication skills (written, spoken, visual)
  • 4.       Strong editing and proofreading skills
  • 5.       Creativity and Innovation
  • 6.       Experience in web design
  • 7.       Competency with graphic design software (preferably Adobe Creative Suite)
  • 8.       Social media proficiency
  • 9.       Computer proficiency
  • 10.    Eye for design and knowledge of basic design principles (as demonstrated by sample work)
  • 11.    Video editing skills are a plus
